Barra Ó Murchú

Barra Ó Murchú was born and raised in Wexford, Ireland. He has spent years exploring the island on foot, combining a passion for hiking with a deep interest in its history. Ruined monastic settlements, ancient hillforts, and the landscapes where these events actually happened have shaped everything in this book. Boru: Forging a King is his debut novel and the first in a two-part series. The research was as much a journey as the writing, and he hopes readers feel that on the page. He is already hard at work on Book 2 which will be coming soon.

The novels are gritty historical fiction that does not flinch. The world is dangerous, the politics are brutal, and the history is real.

When he isn’t tracking through the wilderness or buried in historical archives, Barra can usually be found mapping out new trails or studying medieval Irish warfare. His hands-on approach to research means he doesn't just read about the past—he walks it, ensuring every clash of shields, treacherous bog crossing, and cold mountain wind feels authentic to the reader. He continues to live and work in the southeast of Ireland, surrounded by the very history that inspires his stories.
